American Society of Naval Engineers - for college & graduate students - United States
  • Undergraduate applicants must be full time students and can only apply for support for the last year of their undergraduate program at an accredited college or university.
  • Graduate applicants can apply for support for one full graduate program year leading to an engineering or physical science degree at an accredited university.

Keller BLOOM program  for High School Juniors --- MAINE ONLY
One student from each county in Maine is selected for this annual weeklong internship in marine sciences for Maine high school juniors. For details and the on-line application click on the website link above. 
 
The BLOOM (Bigelow Laboratory Orders Of Magnitude) program was begun by Bigelow researcher Maureen Keller and Trustee Emeritus James McLoughlin to provide students with real world ocean research experience. It offers involvement in on-going marine research to students with demonstrated aptitude in science. Activities include field sampling in a variety of marine environments, with subsequent data collection and analysis using state-of-the-art instrumentation. In addition, discussions are initiated on science and public policy, scientific ethics and career directions. Outcomes include understanding methods of investigation, broadening and strengthening the students' interest in science, and a forum for interaction among students and scientists.
 
 
Microsoft Computer Science Scholarships - for college students - United States, Canada, Mexico
  • Full and partial scholarships awarded for 1 academic year / several categories
  • February 1 deadline for following school year  / mid-March notifications
 
Mitchell Scholarships - for graduating seniors at any Maine public high school
 
The Mitchell Scholarships were established in 1994 by U.S. Senator George J. Mitchell. One of Senator Mitchell's highest priorities is to expand and improve opportunities for the education of young people in Maine. The Mitchell Institute awards a scholarship to a graduating senior from every public high school in Maine. See site for qualifying details.
 
 
Thermo Fisher Foundation for Science Scholarship Program - for college students - select universities in the USA, United Kingdom & China
The Thermo Fisher Foundation for Science scholarship program is designed to help qualified students complete a college education and simultaneously support the advancement of the sciences and public education. The Foundation currently partners with universities to provide scholarships to students pursuing a science-based education. To date, over 50 students have been awarded scholarships. Participating universities in the U.S. include The University of Massachusetts-Boston, The University of Wisconsin, San Jose State University in California, and the University of Houston in Texas. Outside of the U.S., the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom and Shanghai Fudan University in China are currently participating in our program.
