Rain, Rain, Rainforest by Brenda Z. Guiberson is a great book about the life of the rainforest. It also talks about the sloth and what its everyday life is like. The illustrations are so real and lifelike that I feel I am really in the rainforest. I am positive if you read this book you will indeed fall in love with it just like I did.

You get a good picture of the sloth's life. For example, the sloth's life starts out as he wakes up in the morning. He has his eating habits, which are eating insects and some fruit. You see way the sloth moves and blends in with his environment. The sloth's sharp, long claws help support him and help him dig for food. The information is clear and very well presented.

The illustrator's name is Steve Jenkins. The illustrations are very strong and help give the reader a picture of the rainforest. You can get a better idea of how the sloth blends into the environment. The illustrations bring the book to life. The colors are very realistic, depicting cloudy days, sunny days, and in one illustration, there was lightning coming down and the sloth was trying to get himself out of there. This is all conveyed by the illustrations.

My opinion is that this is a very good book about sloths and the rainforest. For one, it gave me facts. For example, they get more rain there than other climates outside the rainforest. It seems to rain most of the time there. The rainforest supports a vast number of animals besides the sloth, such as snakes, monkeys, birds, frogs, etc. It is like a whole different, wonderful, strange world. The writer presented the facts and pictures together to form a book which led me in an organized way. The book stuck with the pictures as well as the topic sentence in each paragraph.

I really enjoyed this book. It definitely peaked my interest in the world of the rainforest and all its inhabitants. I would rate the book 5 out of 5 stars and would recommend it to friends and family. It should stay as a Cornerstones nominee, in my opinion.
