Annotation: With interesting text and stunning photographs, Wechsler introduces us to the world of the vernal pool and its inhabitants. See wood frogs, tree frogs, salamanders and other creatures of the woodland who live in or around vernal pools. A large vernal pool in Delaware is highlighted over a year's time, and we learn about the changes it undergoes with the seasons. Index, glossary, and suggested readings.
The title of my book is
Frog Heaven and the author is Doug Wechsler. My book told facts about a vernal pool. I learned that we need to save vernal pools.
As I started to read the book it kept getting good. My book had facts and lots of words. The illustrations were photographs. I liked the pictures mostly. The strength of my book was the set-up of the chapters, pictures, and words.
The facts and chapters were very clear. My favorite parts of the book were when they talked about the Heaven. Usually the tadpoles die and maggots eat and recycle them. Mostly in different months, different frogs come out. I found out that most vernal pools are surrounded by trees.
My book has an index. The book also has a glossary. You might think a book with chapters has a table of contents, but my book doesn't have one. The book has five chapters.
My opinion of the book was ok. I enjoyed reading the book. It drew me into the book, wanting to learn more. I would give it 5 ½ stars. Yes, I would recommend the book to my friends. My option would be to make the book a top honors and become a full Cornerstones.
