Annotation: Fascinating photo-essay of the wolfsnail, a backyard snail found in the southern U.S. Unlike most other land snails that eat plants, the wolfsnail eats other snails and slugs. Good basic information and close-up photos. Glossary and fact pages at end of book.
A hungry wolf snail, a snail eating snail, finds a tasty prey snail and eats it. Along the way we learn a lot about snail biology and are treated to exquisite photographs.
How Appealing
Who Will Enjoy this Book?
This book is good for all audiences. All audiences will benefit from learning that not all snails are the same, and that not all snails eat their gardens!
How can this book be improved?
It is very good, hard to improve. One minor inconsistency is that after the wolf snail finished eating, the empty snail shell shown in the photograph is a different species than it was eating.
