Search for the Golden Moon Bear
by Sy Montgomery

Search for the Golden Moon Bear is an interesting book with an interesting title. It is written by Sy Montgomery, and is a book about a very special animal: the Golden Moon Bear.

I liked my book because it told me about a search to find the Golden Moon Bear, a golden variation of the Moon Bear, which is mostly black. The story takes place in the United States, Cambodia, and Thailand, making it more interesting because of the jungles with dangerous animals in the last two countries mentioned. Search for the Golden Moon Bear was not told very dramatically; it could have been more exciting; but in the long run it was a good book.

Most of the photographs in Search for the Golden Moon Bear were helpful, but some didn't seem to be necessary. Most had captions; a few didn't and I wondered what they were of. If I could change something about the photos I would take some of them out.

My book did not have a glossary. However, there is an Appendices where bear organizations are listed so the reader can find out additional information. There is an index, a list of bear statistics, and further reading. Acknowledgements and a note about the photos were also included. The index was useful, but I have not explored the other features at this point.

I enjoyed reading Search for the Golden Moon Bear because it made me think about endangered animals and how to save them. My book was interesting because I love animals and the book was full of pictures and information about bears, and even other animals such as the Black Panther and the White Tiger. This book inspired me to find out more about the Golden Moon Bear. I liked Search for the Golden Moon Bear. I also enjoyed reading this book because when I finished it I really wanted to learn more about the Golden Moon Bear, to even see one if possible. I would not give this book a five out of five star rating, but I would give a four out of five star rating. I would recommend this book to my friends. I think this book should remain a Cornerstones nominee.
