I am reading Nights of the Pufflings by Bruce McMillan.
This book tells you what special thing some of the children of Iceland
do just to save the lives of some helpless tiny birds. It has very
nice pictures and I liked how it told a story instead of just a
puffling fact file.
The book tells a story about how Halla and her friend Arnar Ingi
help baby puffins or pufflings find their way to the sea. I think
the book has a very good way of describing what neat thing happens
every August on Heimaey Island, Iceland. The book gave information
on where the puffins or pufflings are born and a lot of facts on
where they go for the winter. Reading the book makes me want to
learn about pufflings and puffins because I want to know where else
they live besides Heimaey Island, Iceland.
The pictures are very clear and help tell the story by showing what
the words are trying to say. They look like they were photographed
by the puffins themselves! I think the book describes so much that
I won’t have to read anymore about the nights of the pufflings.
There were a lot of facts about pufflings that other books wouldn’t
have thought to include in their book.
It was a very well written book. I would give it a 5 out of 5 star
rating. This book would be a good book to share with friends. Nights
of the Pufflings should remain in the top honors at the Cornerstone
Library.
