The Weather Sky
by Bruce McMillan

Book Review

A year goes by here in a couple of dozen wide pages. Each day sampled is given four portions: a photo in color of the sky, blue or cloudy, a drawing of the clouds against altitude, to add the third dimension, a thumbnail segment of a local weather map, tying clouds to air mass and pressure, and a text paragraph describing the physical processes that molded the intricate shapes shown.

The book is fun and richly instructive, good for anyone beyond fifth grade who keeps an eye out for form and its changes. It is quite readable straight through, and works even better for reference over the seasons, its guidance bringing some order to the wild sky yonder.
