Book Review

The large page size is fully justified by the opportunity to display drawings of the human body at life size…It’s all here in the large, along with the mapped systems of lymph and lungs, the cut-away heart, liver and other organs, …The sense organs are magnified. Microscopic views of the blood and its cells and an account of the chromosomal structure are here too. An original style of annotation works extremely well, especially for this youthful audience. It is based on the wildly popular Guiness Book of Records…The English author-illustrator team have walked a surprisingly fresh route down a very well-traveled trail.

~ Philip and Phylis Morrison, Scientific American excerpt

Excellent format for introductory study of the body on many levels. Pictures are fairly accurate (a bit simplified) and focus upon "the most", "the least", "the shortest", etc. which will appeal to kids. Great vocabulary – introduces "real" Anatomy and Physiology terms and names.

~ Marjorie Tennyson, Science Teacher, Hall-Dale School, Hallowell

An appealing introduction to the human body for good readers. Filled with fun facts about the body that will appeal to fans of the Guiness Book of World Records. This book will stimulate readers to learn more. Attractive illustrations, large format and sidebars add appeal and break the information into readable bits. Although designed for children, many adults will also learn new and interesting facts.

~ Linda Oliver, Reference Librarian, Curtis Memorial Library

This is definitely a kid-oriented book with a pretty compelling look at the human body.
