| The
title of my book is Rocks and Minerals written by Edward
Ricciuti and Margaret W. Carruthers. I liked this book because it
had very describedful captions and beautiful photography. The information
was clear and interesting.
I thought that it was an awesome book because it had just one page
of information on each rock. I can’t believe some of the facts
I learned! All of the information is in an very organized fashion,
and even though it was a guide book, it still gave all of the information
I needed to do this report. The book also had beautiful photos.
The number of photos was perfect, all of the photos and captions
had wonderful detail, and since the photos were awesome, it described
what they were trying to tell you in the captions. The book also
had an amazing glossary. The glossary didn’t have a ton of
information, but it had enough. The index was just a regular index,
but it was very helpful to find the right page which had one rock
on every page.
This book was on my reading level so I understood the book, and
that is what makes a book awesome. This book was very interesting
and exciting. There were a lot of facts in this book and crazy ones
too. One of them was “Halite is known as the salt rock and
it is the same salt that you sprinkle on your French fries!”
Myself, I just like to know random facts about things and this was
a good book for that. At the beginning, the book shows you a way
to test rocks, and I thought that was pretty cool. From how great
this book was it should become a full Cornerstones of Science book.
Yes, I would like to learn more about this subject because I like
to learn more about our world.
Since this was such a great book, it goes above and beyond what
I had expected, if I was allowed to give a 10 I would, but I’m
not allowed to so I gave it a five out of five star rating! Who
knows…there might be something valuable in your backyard.
