Exploring the Solar System:
A History with 22 Activities
by Mary Kay Carson

Annotation
This book provides an historical overview of star gazing and space exploration from the early observations of the Chinese, Babylonians, Greeks, and Egyptians through the Mars rovers explorations by Opportunity and Sprit. The last chapter describes plans for the near future, including the first mission to explore Pluto, and continued exploration of Mercury. Also included are short biographical sketches of astronomers, scientists, and space explorers, a field guide to the Solar System - the Sun, Moon, planets, asteroids, and comets of our solar system. The 22 activities include instructions of how to build and launch a paper rocket, make a simple telescope, map the moon's surface, and make a comet nucleus.
