The Chimpanzees I Love: Saving Their World and Ours
by Jane Goodall

Book Review

I was overjoyed to find a children’s book written by Jane Goodall because I know she is one of the world’s most famous primatologists. In her book The Chimpanzees I Love: Saving Their World and Ours I learned more about Jane Goodall and her work with chimpanzees.

The Chimpanzees I Love is the life story of Jane Goodall and a family of chimps beginning with Flo and her offspring. Jane Goodall talks about Roots and Shoots, a group she started for children who want to help save the environment. She also gives suggested resources. The chimps are disappearing because their environment is being destroyed. They are hunted by the native people for food and dealers are coming and getting them to sell. The photos in this book are incredible. They are large and have lots of color.

I would give Jane Goodall’s book five stars (out of five) for its remarkable photos and captions. Even though younger kids can’t read well enough for this book, they can still learn a lot by reading the captions under each picture. This book is for fourth graders and up. I would recommend this book to all my friends.
