Each book is reviewed by a practicing children's librarian as well as a scientist in the relevant field.

Aventis

Aventis Prize for General Science.
Awarded annually and managed by the Royal Society, the UK national academy of science, in cooperation with the sponsor Adventis. The prizes are for the best popular science writing for adults and children.

Phi Beta Kappa Phi Beta Kappa Award in Science
Offered for outstanding contributions by scientists to the literature of science. It was first offered in 1959. The intent of the award is to encourage literate and scholarly interpretations of the physical and biological sciences and mathematics:monographs and compendiums are not eligible. To be eligible, biographies of scientists must have a substantial critical emphasis on their scientific research.
Pulitzer Pulitzer Prize
Announced annually in April. Encompass twenty-one categories and may include science, technology and biography titles.
