Bodies From the Bog
by James M. Deem

Review

I read Bodies From the Bog by James M. Deem. It is about the dead people who are found in peat bogs and how scientists dissect them to learn about how people lived a long time ago. I think it is an interesting book.

The up close shots are great because they allowed me to see details. I also liked how almost every picture has a caption and how detailed the writing is.What I didn't like about the book is that it shows the pictures a tiny bit too much. I thought some were a bit gory. Yet, one of the book's strengths is that the pictures are really clear.

A weakness of the book is that the author didn't explain what scientists look for when they dissect a bog body. The information was presented clearly. I also think it was organized because it had headings to tell what you were reading about. The book doesn't make me want to learn more about the topic because it was a little too gruesome.

The pictures were very useful, and they were easy to see. There weren't too many pictures so they were very easy to focus on. The pictures were good but full color would have been great! There was no glossary, but I didn't think one was necessary.

I really liked this book. If I had to give it a rating, I would give it 5 out of 5 stars because it gave me a lot of information about bog bodies. I would highly recommend it because it wa fun and interesting. I think it should become a full Cornerstone's book.
