Bird
by David Burnie

Book Review

By now a dozen of this series of internationally-produced visual books on particular topics have appeared, all excellent. Page after page is filled with related photographs and artwork, each with a clear, concise label. The effect is that of visiting among the cases of a rich and well-arranged museum...plenty of eggs and nests and feathers, but also a shot of five blue-tit nestlings, their striking yellow-ringed red mouths so dominant in the parent birds' view from above.
