The Amateur Naturalist
by Nick Baker

Annotation
Lee Durrell's forward nicely summarizes the great qualities of this book: a list of recommended equipment with tips on selection and care, a quick guide to classification, a list of codes of conduct for watching wildlife and observing plants, a chapter each devoted to birds, mammals, reptiles & amphibians, fishes, invertebrates, insects, and plants. A select list of nature and environmental organizations, and equipment suppliers is provided in the back of the book, as is a page of titles for further reading. Throughout the book Baker inserts attention-grabbing facts and fun, educational, and eco-friendly activities.
